The Rev. E.V. Paget
The Rev. Ernest Villiers Paget, chaplain to the Convent of the Holy Cross, Haywards Heath, died on Tuesday at Stroud Hospital, Gloucester, at the age of 56. The third son of Mr. Berkeley Paget, D.L., he was descended from the ninth Lord Paget and first Earl of Uxbridge of the second creation. His mother was a daughter of Dr. Montagu Villiers, Bishop of Durham. Having taken his degree from Selwyn College, Cambridge, he prepared for ordination at Ely Theological College, His first curacy was at St. Barnabas', Hove, and he was later curate of St. Bartholomew's, Brighton. In 1913 he was appointed vicar of St. Augustine's, Victoria Park, South Hackney, and was later chaplain to Lady Henry Somerset's Homes at Duxhurst, Reigate. In 1921 he became assistant chaplain at Haywards Heath, and chaplain in 1925.
