George Charles Henry Victor Paget, 7th Marquess of Anglesey DL FSA FRHistS FRSL (born 8 October 1922) is a British Peer.
He is the son of Charles Paget, 6th Marquess of Anglesey and Lady Victoria Manners and was baptised with George V and Queen Mary as his godparents. He is the brother of Lady Rose McLaren and the nephew of Lady Diana Cooper.
He was educated at Eton College. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Horse Guards (Blues) and fought in the Second World War. He used the courtesy title of Earl of Uxbridge until he succeeded to the Marquessate in 1947.
He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant of Anglesey in 1960, Vice-Lieutenant of Anglesey between 1960 and 1983 and Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd between 1983 and 1989.
He wrote the books The Capel Letters 1814-1817 (1955), One Leg: The Life and Letters of 1st Marquess of Anglesey (1961), Sergeant Pearman's Memoirs (1968) and A History of the British Cavalry, Volumes I-VIII.
Sir George Charles Henry Victor Paget, 7th Marquess of Anglesey was born on 8 October 1922. He is the son of Sir Charles Henry Alexander Paget, 6th Marquess of Anglesey and Lady Victoria Marjorie Harriet Manners. He married Elizabeth Shirley Vaughan Morgan, daughter of Charles Langbridge Morgan and Hilda Vaughan, on 16 October 1948.
Sir George Charles Henry Victor Paget, 7th Marquess of Anglesey was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Horse Guards (Blues). He fought in the Second World War. He succeeded to the title of 7th Marquess of Anglesey [U.K., 1815] on 21 February 1947. He succeeded to the title of 16th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 21 February 1947. He succeeded to the title of 10th Baronet Bayly, of Placenewyd, co. Anglesey and Mount Bagenall, co. Louth [I., 1730] on 21 February 1947. He succeeded to the title of 8th Earl of Uxbridge, co. Middlesex [G.B., 1784] on 21 February 1947. He was invested as a Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1951. He wrote the book The Capel Letters 1814-1817, published 1955, editor. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Anglesey in 1960. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Historical Society (F.R.Hist.S.). He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Anglesey between 1960 and 1983. He wrote the book One Leg: The Life and Letters of 1st Marquess of Anglesey, published 1961. He wrote the book Sergeant Pearman's Memoirs, published 1968. He wrote the book A History of the British Cavalry, Volumes I-VIII. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.).
