In memory of Robert Blake Humfrey of this Parish, Esquire.
Deputy Lieutenant and Justice of the Peace.
As an officer in the 3rd Regiment The Buffs at the age of 17 he served in the Peninsular War under Wellington and lost his left leg at the passage of the Nive when in command of a company of the 57th.
He married Charlotte, the daughter of Colonel Harvey of Thorpe and is survived by seven children.
He lived to a good old age, respected, honoured and beloved.
Born 23rd November 1795.
Died 15th October 1886.

Also of Charlotte, his wife. Born 12th March 1809. Died at the Close House 16th October 1894.

Robert Blake, 2nd: son, born 23 Nov. 1795, assumed by royal licence additional name of Humfrey, and is now Robert Blake- Humfrey, Esq., of Wroxham House.

Robert Blake, Esq., bn. Nov. 23, 1796, took (1848) name of Humfrey. Married Charlotte, da. of Lieut. -Colonel John Harvey of Thorpe Lodge, and succeeded to the Horstead property. Issue three sons and four daurs. Vide supra.

Robert Blake-Humfrey, the son of Thomas Blake (1755-1813) and Theodora Martha Colombine (1756-1801), was born at Horstead in Norfolk on 23 November 1795 and was baptised at Saint George Tombland, Norwich, Norfolk on 6 December of that year. Robert died at St. Faith's, Norfolk on 15 October 1886, aged 90.

Charlotte Harvey, the daughter of Lieut.-Col. John Harvey (5 May 1755 - 9 February 1842) and Frances Kerrison (1765-1841), who were married 27 December 1782, was born at Swafield in Norwich, Norfolk on 18 March 1809 and was baptised at St. Andrew's, Thorp St. Andrew, Norfolk. Charlotte died at Close House, Norwich, Norfolk, on 16 October 1894. Charlotte was sister to Rosa, the mother of Harvey Ranking.

Robert Blake-Humfrey and Charlotte Harvey were married at Thorpe St. Andrew, Norfolk on 4 August 1838.
