George Shaw Petty, the son of Thomas Petty and Ann, was born about 1790 at Urswick In Furness, Lancashire and was baptised there on 24 January 1790. George died during the March quarter of 1872, aged 82 at Ulverston in Lancashire.

Hannah Fell was born about 1793 and died at Ulverston in Lancashire, aged 88, during the September quarter of 1881.

George Shaw Petty and Hannah Fell were married at Thwaites in Cumberland on 12 April 1819.
