James Lewis RIBA is an architectural and environmental writer, has retired from practice, Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Visiting Fellow in Development Studies at the University of Bath, an occasional External Examiner at the Centre for Architectural Research and Development (CARDO) at the University of Newcastle, a Registered Expert Witness (1997-2000) and a Registered Expert Witness (1997-2000).

James Lewis RIBA has worked on design, management and inspection of construction in Algeria, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, the South Pacific, the United Kingdom and the USA. Formerly co-founder of the Disaster Research Unit, University of Bradford, he is a member of Development Workshop France and Visiting Fellow in Development Studies at the University of Bath.
